THE ST8 COLLECTION
Designed by EOOS for Hussl — Curated by Hightower Studio

We are proud to partner with Hussl, a second-generation, family-owned Austrian furniture manufacturer celebrated for nearly 50 years of exceptional woodworking and enduring design. Rooted in Tyrol, Hussl combines traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing to create furniture that balances innovation with longevity. Curated through Hightower Studio, we are excited to bring the ST8 collection and Hussl’s distinctive approach to woodworking to North America.
ST8, which translates to “Chair 8,” was designed by renowned Austrian design studio EOOS for Hussl and reflects a bold rethinking of the traditional wooden chair — uniting material ingenuity, refined craftsmanship, and everyday functionality in a form that feels both familiar and entirely new.

At first glance, ST8 feels familiar. Look closer, and a deeper story emerges. Expressive joinery, carefully selected wood, and precision manufacturing reveal a chair that celebrates the beauty of construction itself — honoring traditional craftsmanship while quietly challenging expectations of what a wooden chair can be.

“We started at the heart of the chair and redefined the classic frame construction that supports and determines everything. New heart, new chair.”
— EOOS Design Team
Built From the Inside Out
ST8 began with a simple question: what if the traditional wooden chair could be reimagined from its core? Developed during a period of material scarcity in 2020, EOOS and Hussl explored alternative construction methods that ultimately led to an innovative cellulose-core shell. Sandwiched between layers of wood veneer, the cellulose structure reduces weight while maintaining strength — creating a chair that feels familiar in appearance yet remarkably different in performance.
Every ST8 chair reflects Hussl’s deep understanding of wood, construction, and craftsmanship. The solid wood frame is assembled using traditional finger-joint and mortise-and-tenon joinery, eliminating the need for visible screws while enhancing structural integrity. Carefully considered grain orientation adds both strength and visual interest, allowing the construction itself to become a design feature. Manufactured in Tyrol with domestically sourced upholstered seat pads, ST8 balances advanced production techniques with skilled hand-finishing to create a chair that feels authentic and enduring.

Design That Stacks Up
Designed to do more with less, ST8 delivers exceptional performance in a compact footprint. Starting at just 11 lbs, its lightweight construction and thoughtfully designed split back make it easy to lift, move, and rearrange, while stackability up to six chairs high supports flexible, multi-use spaces. Engineered to support a 400 lb rating, ST8 combines effortless mobility with exceptional strength and lasting durability.

Make A ST8(ment)
ST8 balances accessibility with customization. Natural Stained Oak is stocked for delivery in as little as six weeks, offering a streamlined path to specification. For projects seeking a more tailored expression, the collection is also available in a thoughtful selection of oak and ash finishes, from natural wood tones to expressive stains and paints. Available with or without an upholstered seat pad, ST8 adapts to a wide range of design visions while maintaining its distinctive character.

Naturally Adaptable
Some chairs define a space through bold gestures. ST8 does so through quiet confidence. Its warm wood construction, lightweight performance, and timeless silhouette allow it to integrate naturally across hospitality, workplace, education, and public environments.
Considered for the Long Term
Beyond its material innovation and enduring construction, ST8 reflects a broader commitment to responsible design. Carefully selected materials, trusted manufacturing practices, and long-term durability come together to create a chair that supports both the needs of today’s spaces and the expectations of tomorrow.
